Hyde Park and Frank Lloyd Wright

I gave a talk for the Hyde Park Village covering what a large role that Hyde Park played in the early life of Frank Lloyd Wright and how his work here built up to Hyde Park’s Robie House.

Morgan Shoal

I was asked to give a brief talk on the history of Morgan Shoal for Friends of the Parks, along with the biologist who has studied the shoal and the historian of the art carved into the rocks.

When Hyde Park Was Happening

Zoom presentation for the Hyde Park Historical Society. Urban Renewal turned Hyde Park into a quiet residential neighborhood, but earlier, Hyde Park was a destination for fun. The Washington Park Racetrack, the Armory, and Stagg Field brought thousands to watch sports. Amusement Parks lined Cottage Grove Avenue. And the Hyde Park area was a jazz mecca.
