About Patricia Morse

Patricia Morse told her 9th Grade teacher that she would be an historian when she grew up. She went on to get a BA double major in History and Creative Writing at the State University of New York at Binghamton and an MA and PhD in English at the University of Chicago. She taught composition, literature, and American studies at the University of Chicago, Union College, St. Lawrence University, and Michigan State University before returning to Hyde Park, Chicago. Since retiring from the University of Chicago Press, she has been completing her book tracing her parents’ experience of World War II. In her spare time, she’s been telling the stories of the 19th and 20th Century transformations of urban life in a history column in the Hyde Park Herald.
